Bridging the Blues

This partnership was created to give travelers more places to hear live music when they visit, and H&A was behind its branding and campaigns.

Hammons and Associates was approached by Wesley Smith, Executive Director of the Washington County CVB, with an idea that would involve linking Arkansas’s King Biscuit Blues Festival with the Highway 61 Blues Festival in Mississippi. The plan would center around creating a two-week period in late September and early October that would bring international travelers to the region for a multi-week pilgrimage for live music.

H&A arranged a joint meeting of the state tourism directors of the states of Mississippi and Arkansas with the Executive Director of the Memphis CVB. This initial meeting resulted in an agreement to support the idea and fund the first year’s effort. H&A developed the ad campaign that launched the effort and also managed a blog and Facebook page that supported the events. We have created and overseen the promotion of Bridging the Blues through print and broadcast advertising as well as films used on their website and social media platforms.
