The Dockery Farms Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and protect the resources of this historic location in the Mississippi Delta. H&A has worked with the foundation’s board in the last several years to promote two major fundraising concerts: Rosanne Cash and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. We created posters, print ads, news releases as well as a social media campaign for these events.
The Dockery Farms Foundation decided to bring music events back to the place that has been called “the birthplace of the blues” and began with a concert featuring Rosanne Cash. While known as a country/roots musician, she and her husband had visited Dockery along with other Delta sites and felt a connection strong enough to write several songs about it in their most recent album “The River and the Thread.”
In promoting this event, one of the more successful outcomes was having our news release picked up as a lead-in on the front page of the Clarion Ledger, Mississippi’s state-wide newspaper.
We used print ads, posters and handouts, but the use of social media was paramount in spreading the word. This spring the foundation chose to call on H&A again as they featured Tedeschi Trucks Band in concert, and again, social media was our primary focus. Through both organic and paid posts, our reach and engagement produced dramatic results. The concert attracted more than 1,200 fans on a Sunday night, with many attendees traveling from as far away as California and New York to this rural location.
